Journal entry for: 9-10-2000

Hello Everyone,

It's a beautiful Monday and I'm here in Franklin, TN. We just got back from the second weekend of our tour. It has been a fun time so far. The Nickel and Dime guys have been more fun to be with than we imagined. They've been friends for years, but it's been so great to get to really spend some solid time with them again. Matthew Perryman Jones' record is out now also, which is great. You can get it at his website at www.matthewperrymanjones.com.

I bought a textbook the other day, which I know qualifies me as a grade-A nerd, but it has been really interesting. It's a "brief" overview of Church history. It has been one of the most phenomenal awe-inspring things I have ever read. It's been truly eye-opening to see what the people of God have believed through time, to see how close and far apart some of our beliefs are. I am starting to look at the body of Christ in a completely different way. To see the hand of God move in such giant and incredible ways. To see that we as modern believers are not the first people to struggle with the issues that plague us, to see that we are part of a tapestry of God's movement. It is amazing to me how little I really know about the Bible that I study and the theology that I claim to have such a working knowledge of. I cannot tell you how strongly I recommend learning about our history as a people. It is truly incredible.

Anyway, other than that we're just enjoying being together on the road again. Playing the new material has been a lot of fun. Besides that Cason and I had our second annual Labor Day Bash last week, I got to make a little cameo appearance at a Waterdeep show here in Tennessee a couple of weeks ago, and we got a new trailer for our van! It's been an exciting couple of weeks... Well, now that classes are going and the dorms are open, I hope you're all having a great start to a wonderful, beautiful Autumn and we hope to see all of you on the tour!

Grace and Peace,
Andrew

p.s. by the way, if anyone has an Atari 2600 that they're itching to get rid of, please let us know, we're in the market...
